Community Public Access Defibrillator & Bleed Kit sites
What are they?
Community Public Access Defibrilator sites (CPAD)
These are cabinets that are accessible for anyone to collect an AED and/or Bleed Kit from in an emergency.
Some cabinets are locked, whilst others are open access. The location and access codes are provided when you call 999 and speak to the ambulance service.
Whilst CPR should always been started first in a cardiac arrest, if there is somebody else with the patient to go to the cabinet, they should collect the AED.
Public Access Bleed Kit (PABK)
These are small first aid kits, designed for heavy blood loss following an incident. When every minute counts to stop the bleed, these kits are used by bystanders to control major blood loss.
Bleed Kits are sometimes stored in their own cabinet, or most commonly located within an AED cabinet. You will be guided to your nearest bleed kit, and instructed how to use the items by the call handler.
Training
It is good to know that both an AED & Bleed Kit require no training for their use, and you will be instructed how to use them at the time.
Although no training is required, an awareness session is always useful to familiarize yourself with these items for peace of mind. We offer free awareness training on both these...
Our charity supports over 40 CPAD sites
all over the Ross-on-Wye area
Our team of volunteers look after many Community Public Access Defibrillator sites across our operational area.
Each site that we look after receives regular checks., to ensure that the equipment is fit for use.
We also assist with consumable purchases to reduce the cost to the owners of the site.
Costs of equipment
We work with Parishes, Businesses and Communities when they are looking to set up a new CPAD or add a PABK to a current site.
Always aiming to source the items at the best price, we help your fundraising to be as effective as possible.
Current estimated costs for a new CPAD:
Cabinet: £450
AED: £695
PABK: £85
New sites launched!
Over the last 12 months our charity has assisted in launching multiple sites around Ross-on-Wye.
Our continued effort will see more of these CPAD sites pop up and be available in our community.
Whats more, all the new sites that we assist with launching not only have a defibrillator, but will also have a public access bleed kit installed alongside!
